Fran Gets Some Work Done

Ok, so maybe it wasn’t John Isner vs. Nicolas Mahut. Who cares? The points were better. Svetlana Kuznetsova and Francesca Schiavone put on a marathon classic on Sunday in Melbourne. A time record for a woman’s grand slam match, a bunch of match points saved, feet that would gross out a ballerina, grunting from Sveta that was eerily reminiscent of a goat, kicking Maria Sharapova’s loss to Andrea Petkovic off the front page and a injury timeout that looked a lot like the Heimlich Maneuver. Enjoy!

ESPN’s coverage was terrible. They had a split screen with interviews of Woz and then Fed even while Schiavone was saving three match points. Poor form. They do the same thing for NBA coverage. I don’t need to see Fed to hear him comment on the match. Was rooting for Schiavone even tho my wife thinks she resembles Jackie Earl Haley.
