First set and most of second were awful. If rallies extended past three shots, they often ended with an error. Pavlyuchenkova served for the match twice in the second which clearly doesn’t mean much. Kvitova suddenly decided to connect on her shots and won the second in a tiebreak.
Pavlyuchenkova then took a really long bathroom break. I definitely didn’t see any pee-pee dancing going on in the tiebreak so she couldn’t have had to go that bad. And if it was something else, maybe she needs to start having an activia in the morning before heading to the courts. Either way, that kind of thing drives me nuts and must have bothered Kvitova who had game points in the first two games of the third set, lost them both and promptly went out 6-0.
In summary, Pavlyuchenkova didn’t win many fans with the gamesmanship, Kvitova has a squash shot that is the closest thing to an offensive shot I’ve seen and neither player did much to encourage smaller women from playing on the tour.
