Due to the high winds at the Sony Ericsson today, the WTA announced their new campaign geared towards getting fans and players closer together.
The campaign, hurriedly titled “Go Fly a Kite,” will be launched after the Roger Federer/Gilles Simon match on stadium court.
The WTA will attach a string to Daniela Hantuchova and launch her above Key Biscayne. For $5, fans will have the opportunity to steer Hantuchova for two minutes.
The tour had initially planned on trying out Andrea Petkovic, but her game flew away so quickly during her loss to Maria Sharapova they were unable to attach the string to it in time. Fortunately, Hantuchova, who is in the doubles semifinals with partner Agnieszka Radwanska, volunteered to help out the tour.
